New fatal accident in Interlagos
di StaffApril 21, 2011
Once again a fatal accident must be recorded on the track hosting the Brazilian Grand Prix. Less than three weeks after the death of Brazilian driver Gustavo Sondermann, Paulo Kunze, 67, was declared dead following injuries sustained in an accident a few days ago.
Following the disappearance of Sondermann, the FIA in agreement with the local authorities decided to widen the escape route of the Curva do Cafe, where in 2007 Rafael Spreafico lost his life in a very similar accident.
Kunze, who died in hospital on Wednesday after suffering serious head injuries, had crashed while overtaking at the Curva do Sol, the left-hander that leads to the opposite straight after the S Senna.
