Nico Hulkenberg: “It was an excellent day that gave us a lot of information”

La Force India started his Canadian Grand Prix with a very productive Friday in Montreal, in particular Nico Hulkenberg finished both sessions in the top ten, while Sergio Perez he obtained a ninth and a twelfth place.

Nico Hulkenberg, P7 (FP1), P9 (FP2): “We did a lot of laps today, especially this afternoon, and this is what we generally look for in Friday free practice. I felt the car was good, and generally this is encouraging, also we were able to manage the evolution of the track by applying some changes to the car. The two sessions were quite simple, as mentioned there were small changes to try to find the ideal balance and speed for qualifying. It was an excellent day that gave us a lot of information."

Sergio Perez, P9 (FP1), P12 (FP2) : “The change in weather between the morning and the afternoon produced two free practice sessions that were very different from each other. Initially the track was very clean but we had to learn some things about the car and the tyres. The red flag cost us some time, especially for me as I had just gone out for the first run. The potential for a good qualifying is all there, but obviously we need to work tonight to make sure we are in a good position tomorrow. Here it is crucial to find the correct balance during braking, you also need to have good traction. These are the areas we will focus on.”

Robert Fernley, deputy team principal: “Today's program included some specific tests for this unique circuit, in addition to this we did the usual studies regarding the various rubber compounds and the various stints, so we were able to cover a good number of laps, which testifies to the fact that we had a good session, so we can be satisfied with the results. Both drivers are happy with the car and therefore we are optimistic ahead of Saturday. At this circuit the margins are really small and we could have many cars in just over half a second. So it is very important to be perfect in qualifying.”
