Newey: “Renault impresses me more than Ferrari”

The designer of the RB7 was more impressed by Renault's R31 than by the 150° Italia, the Maranello team's latest single-seater. In an interview with El Paìs Adrian Newey declared: “Renault impressed me the most. Its exhaust system is completely different from any other. I haven't analyzed it well, but the path they've taken is unique and very bold, which is always a good thing.”

After defining the 150° Italia "a conventional single-seater", Newey expressed his opinion on McLaren: "They worked hard on the sides, which are different, but I think the novelty is more visual than anything else. Most teams choose to evolve the previous car.” For this reason, the English coach believes that seeing the exhausts of the RB7 copied is not only "flattering" but also "irritating".
