No penalties for McLaren
The team mistakenly fitted Alonso with a Button tyre
di Chiara Rainis4 July 2015
The FIA has decided to pardon the McLaren despite the infringement of article 25.4 of the sporting regulations which occurred during qualifying at Silverstone.
The Woking team actually swapped the tires of the two drivers, but having admitted the mistake they were punished only with a fine.
“We had to make a double pit stop with Button first and Alonso immediately after – explained the person in charge of the pit wall Eric boullier at Autosport – Only that Jenson was called to the weighbridge so Fernando arrived first and in a moment of confusion we fitted him with one of the covers that belonged to his teammate".
