Monza, Verstappen: “We must try to get the most out of what we have”

Reliability problems continue at Toro Rosso. In fact, despite the enormous efforts of Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen, the Scuderia di Faenza was unable to complete the work program planned for free practice for the Italian Grand Prix, the thirteenth round of the 2015 Formula One World Championship.

The many power problems of the Renault power unit did not in fact allow the two young talents of Red Bull to show off their full potential on the very fast Brianza track and this certainly slowed down the work in anticipation of Sunday's race. Tomorrow's free practice three will be fundamental in this sense.

Here are the words of Max Verstappen: “We knew that today would be a difficult day and so it was. We have to try to get the most out of what we have, optimizing the car to try to improve our performance a little... It's no secret that this is not a track suitable for us, because in Monza you need to have a lot of top speed on the straight . But, all in all, I think it was a worthwhile day. We tried a few different things on both cars and managed to collect a lot of data."

Here are Carlos Sainz's impressions: “Some setting problems disturbed this morning's FP1. Then I spun, compromising my session... But we were still able to recover in PL2, which was definitely better. We focused on the long runs and worked on the car set-up for Sunday, because we know that in tomorrow's qualifying we won't be able to do much anyway, having some penalty positions to serve on the grid, due to the engine replacement ”.

“I still had fun on the track today: it's one of my favorite circuits and after today it's even more so. The top speeds we reach in the slipstream of other cars and in the DRS zones are really high, I think the highest I've ever reached in my life: obviously, a fantastic feeling!” he concluded.
