Monza and the mystery of the signature on the renewal

Despite the agreement, the signature on the agreement has not yet arrived

Monza and the mystery of the signature on the renewal

As is well known, during the weekend of Monza Grand Prix the renewal for another three years of the agreement that would have guaranteed F1 in Monza had been announced, the agreement had been sanctioned with a handshake and announced with great fanfare by the president ofACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani, assisted by Bernie Ecclestone as well as by the secondary presences of Roberto Maroni and Jean Todt.
However, one detail did not escape the most attentive, that of the failure to sign the agreement.

The official explanation for this "anomaly" was that for legal reasons the signature could not take place in our country and that therefore everything had been postponed to London in the "subsequent days", but to date there has still been nothing. However, there can be many reasons for this.
A possible explanation is that those famous "last details" that Sticchi Damiani has always downplayed are not yet fully defined or that the recent agreement that brought F1 into the hands of Liberty Medium made Ecclestone very busy and therefore the meeting with the president of the ACI was postponed to a later date.
In any case, those directly involved are still very confident because although Ecclestone is very demanding, for the supreme leader of F1 (he will still be so for 2-3 years - ed.) a handshake is worth even more than a signature, but these delays however they are not good for the future (already in the balance) of Monza.

The positive note is that in any case in the draft calendar presented for 2017 the Italian appointment is still there in its place on 3 September and this naturally gives us hope for the success of the agreement.

The evil-thinkers, however, point out that the hearing will take place on October 26th TAR for the appeal of Formula Imola (company that manages the Imola racetrack, rival of Monza) against the ACI's decision to support the Brianza circuit only with "state aid", to which is added the complaint from Codacons for the improper use of public money , in short, more fuel on the fire for an issue that to define as "controversial" is an understatement.

We just have to wait for the next few weeks to understand what will happen at the Italian event, without a doubt we will see some good ones, but in our hearts we hope that the most legendary track of the F1 world championship will remain in place to still offer us the emotions that only the " temple of speed” can give.
