Mercedes, Wolff: “Rosberg will come back strong”
Hamilton leads the World Championship with 93 points, Rosberg follows on 66: he has the support of Mercedes
Even if the distance in the standings is starting to become heavy due to the direct competition, if it weren't for the point of view of the drivers' performance we could say that Mercedes is not nothing changed. Unlike the 2014 season, where until August Nico Rosberg was the one who seemed to have the better of Hamilton, this year the roles have been reversed, although the difference between the two drivers remains minimal. There's no story however in terms of ranking: if the Briton leads the Drivers' World Championship with 93 points, having so far always surpassed his boxmate, the German, he is in second position with 66 points when we are on the eve of the Spanish Grand Prix.
“If we think about qualifying, Nico is just behind Lewis 4 tenths and this, at my home, doesn't mean being clearly beaten by your teammate – commented Toto Wolff – The difference is starting from pole position and being able to control the race. Rosberg wouldn't be the vice world champion if he let himself be destabilized by a few races that perhaps went wrong. I'm sure Nico will be back at the front, I don't know when it will happen, but it will happen“, He concluded.
