Mercedes, Wolff: “Red Bull is a real threat in Hungary”

Even Mercedes now seems to snub Ferrari and in fact elects the revived Red Bull as its first challenger for the Hungarian GP. The RB12 is a single-seater that generates a large aerodynamic load and has excellent traction, therefore perfect for circuits with many curves and where the maximum speed does not matter that much.

“In Budapest we will have to pay close attention to Red Bull - explained Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal - The Hungaroring is certainly a favorable track for them, we should work hard to end the weekend on the top step of the podium."

Mercedes, dominator of the Formula Hybrid, did not win in Hungary either in 2014 (Ricciardo on Red Bull) or in 2015 (Vettel on Ferrari).

“Budapest is an event where we have suffered in the last two years - Wolff continued - And the Red Bull is a real danger on tracks with high downforce, with lots of corners, especially at low speed, or in the wet. We will have to be impeccable. Furthermore, a delicate phase is approaching for us; it's time to think about 2017 too, with the disadvantage that some of our direct competitors (Ferrari? ed.) have already interrupted the development of the 2016 single-seater to concentrate on next season".
