Mercedes, Wolff comments on Hamilton's post-race outburst: "Understandable words after retiring"

The anger over the failure of the engine while he was leading the Malaysian Grand Prix brought Lewis Hamilton to the BBC's microphones, furious at yet another mechanical problem from the Australian Grand Prix to yesterday. The Englishman has in fact questioned the quality of his drive units, asking for explanations for the many problems that have blocked him in the title fight with Nico Rosberg. Precisely in this sense, Toto Wolff underlined that none of this is true and that there is no favoritism towards the current world championship leader. The Austrian manager also understood Hamilton's outburst after the race, specifying that in a situation of that type it is easy to lose patience and not listen to the words that are said.

Here are the words of Toto Wolff: “I understand Lewis' words and in a way I understand him. Imagine being the leader of a Grand Prix, close to the top of the world championship and with a teammate off the podium. Accepting a breakup of this type is not easy. It's a very stressful situation for a pilot and it's not exactly ideal to put a microphone in his hand. We have already spoken to him and we can assure him that we will do everything possible to understand the problem and help him in this complicated moment. We lost a lot of points and the chance to become champions already in Sepang. All this must never happen again."
