Mercedes W07 Hybrid: the first aerodynamic innovations
Blowholes in the flow diverters located before the cooling vents
This morning the first aerodynamic innovations were introduced in the bargeboard area of the W07 Hybrid. As you can see from the photo above, blowholes have been introduced in the flow diverters located before the cooling vents. In the lower part of these diverters, vortex generators have also been introduced to improve the flow towards the rear of the car.
The protuberance seen yesterday on the sides of the Mercedes W07 Hybrid also aroused a lot of interest. This (closed) cone is particularly visible on the new 2016 single-seater from the Anglo-German team since the sides have been tapered in the initial part. The particular component is part of the lateral protection structure imposed by the technical regulations necessary to pass the lateral crash test positively.
