Mercedes: We were “investigated” on our KERS

While other teams face the KERS dilemma, it becomes increasingly clear that McLaren Mercedes' system is the best yet. Toyota, Red bull, Toro Rosso, Williams, Force India and Brawn have not yet used KERS, while Ferrari, BMW and Renault still have doubts about the benefits brought by their energy reuse system. Meanwhile, the McLarens of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton have used the KERS developed by Mercedes with some consistency. Norbert Haugh revealed to the German press on Tuesday that the brand's success with KERS has popularized their system. “We have been investigated (about KERS),” Haugh said, “both by teams wanting to enter F1 and by teams already established in the category.” Mercedes has already expressed its desire to be the sole supplier of KERS from 2010 if FOTA were to adopt a standard system next year.
