Mercedes, Schumacher wants to return to the podium in Spain

Michael Schumacher is eager to return to the podium now that he has a car capable of fighting for victory. His teammate, Nico Rosberg, achieved Mercedes' first victory in China since the 1955 season.

Ahead of the Spanish GP, Schumacher declared that Mercedes must review its objectives in light of the car's performance.

“Whether I win or not, every podium finish will always be welcome,” Schumacher said in Barcelona. “We started this project with a different perspective but we have to be realistic, we have a podium-worthy car capable of winning races so the sooner I do it the better.”

Schumacher declared that the Mugello tests were very useful: “In the first races we understood our potential and our weaknesses but the Mugello tests were important to understand how to fill our gaps. We were able to work on the car without the pressure of the race weekend to understand it better and it was very useful."
