Mercedes, Schumacher: “A good start here in Malaysia”

The German Mercedes driver ranked second behind Lewis Hamilton at the end of free practice. Schumacher is satisfied with the work done even if he remains cautious about the result in qualifying and the race.

Michael Schumacher – 2nd: “We had a good day on track today, and I'm very happy with the work that was done after Australia. This allowed us to achieve reasonably consistent long runs, which is obviously important in these conditions. We also know that everyone works on different programs on Fridays, so I would say we haven't seen everything yet. We are well aware that we should not be too optimistic about today's result.”

Nico Rosberg – 4th: “We had a good start today in one of our home races here in Malaysia, so I'm quite happy. We've learned a lot about how to use our tires, and I feel like things are going in the right direction, but I don't know where we are compared to the others. It will be very interesting to see how we can handle the situation on Sunday.”

Ross Brawn, Team Principal: “We had two good free practice sessions today and achieved a lot of positive work. We know we need to focus on tire consistency and durability, and we learned some important things today, which we hope we can take into the race. We also need to make sure we follow the evolution of the track over the next two days so that we have the right car for Sunday's race. Overall, a good start to one of our home races here in Malaysia.”
