Mercedes, Hamilton: “I didn't want to risk it”

Despite the excellent performances displayed during yesterday morning's free practice, Lewis Hamilton was unable to secure pole position for the United States Grand Prix, the sixteenth round of the 2015 Formula One world championship. The Mercedes Englishman was unable to take advantage of the improvement on the track during the central phase of Q2, losing his best performance to his teammate. Hamilton will still start from second place and will have the opportunity to attack Rosberg already in the early stages of the race.

Here are the words of Lewis Hamilton: “We weren't able to fight to the end in qualifying, but the sessions we had were a real battle. Nothing compared to yesterday, let's be clear, but it was really difficult, especially during Q2 when it started raining again. It was a good qualifying and it was a lot of fun, but in the end I lost pole due to a timing issue. I went out at the wrong time and Nico was better than me at taking advantage of the improvement on the track."

“In any case I am happy with my performance and that of the team. We hope to confirm this result. There were a lot of people in the stands and we hope the time can improve between now and 14pm." he concluded.
