Mercedes: Hamilton, “The result of these tests is encouraging”
The English driver completed 117 laps
Lewis Hamilton completed his final day of pre-season testing at the head of the pack, stopping the clock at 1'20"558. In the morning the activity developed into a series of short runs carried out using the soft compound and continued evaluations on the aerodynamics and the different set-ups; in the afternoon, however, the Englishman concentrated above all on long runs and tire degradation.
“It was good to be able to enjoy some good weather” – said Ham at the end – “We managed to complete the program we had set ourselves and I think we are doing an excellent job although there are still some points to improve . The guys both on the track and in the factory are really working hard and the reliability, the mileage achieved and the progress we are gradually making are very encouraging. Next week I will be at the headquarters to continue training on the simulator and with my engineer, then I will leave for Melbourne for the first race with my new team."
So tomorrow there will be room for Nico Rosberg for the closing.
