Mercedes GP: Accident for Rosberg in Korea, Schumacher first in Free Practice 1

Free practice was full of ups and downs for Mercedes at the Formula 1 Korean GP. Michael Schumacher achieved the best time in the first session in the rain while in free practice 2 he did not go beyond the 14th time. Problems for Nico Rosberg, eighth on Friday in Yeongam but slowed down by an accident with Jaime Alguersuari after a spin.

Nico Rosberg – 8th: “I felt very comfortable on the intermediate tires this afternoon, and we tried a few different set up options which worked quite well. My car performed well in the conditions we had today, but the weather is expected to change for Saturday and Sunday, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out tomorrow. The collision was a difficult situation and unfortunately brought my session to a quick end, but at least I didn't lose any runs in the dry.”

Michael Schumacher – 14th: “Today was one of those Fridays where most of what you do is prepare for the race, knowing that the conditions will probably be totally different on Sunday. Both testing sessions were too wet to use dry tyres. The forecast for the rest of the weekend is for a dry track. But you can learn a lot about the car and how it works on the track, and that's what we were doing most of the time today. Now we need to look in depth at the data we have collected and try to understand the best way to tackle the rest of the weekend."
