Mercedes asks the FIA for clarification on the Ferrari-Haas partnership
Explanations requested in case of collaboration between teams on the use of the wind tunnel
Tension reigns in Abu Dhabi, where the last weekend of the season is underway on the Yas Marina track. Mercedes has written to the board of commissioners to ask for clarification on the rules governing the use of the wind tunnel.
The three-pointed star team consulted the commissioners believing that Ferrari has exceeded the limit of 25 hours per week, taking advantage of the collaboration of the newly formed Haas team, to which the Cavallino will supply the engines starting from next year. Not being registered for the current World Championship, but for the next one, the American team cannot be subjected to a limitation of hours.
To verify the possible union between Ferrari and Haas, the International Federation sent its delegate, Marcin Budkowski, to Maranello, who however found nothing anomalous.
Toto Wolff immediately wanted to tone down the controversy that arose around this case: “It's just a request for clarification. We are looking for explanations to questions that we have asked the Federation in the past and which have not completely convinced us."
