According to rumors coming from the British media, interrupting Alonso's contract with McLaren (with which he is linked until 2018) would cost up to 30 million euros. Should Mercedes fail to hire Alonso, the other candidates ready to replace Rosberg are essentially two: Pascal Wehrlein (owned by Mercedes itself) and Valtteri Bottas, whose manager is Toto Wolff.
