McLaren will develop a front wing similar to Ferrari and Red Bull

The Woking team will try to copy the front wing of Ferrari and Red Bull in order to obtain the same advantages, Martin Whitmarsh announced at the end of the German Grand Prix.

The English team had presented a photographic dossier to the federation in which they wanted to demonstrate that the wings of the F10 and RB6 flexed too much, bending downwards and therefore guaranteeing a greater aerodynamic load. The FIA rejected the accusations and judged the cars to be in order, therefore McLaren will begin working in this direction to understand how to improve the car.

Whitmarsh commented: “The images we have show that there is something strange, but neither I nor our engineers can explain what. Maybe because we aren't smart enough. We also spoke with Ferrari, through its team principal, I didn't want explanations from them but just to make them aware of this situation before submitting a protest to the FIA. We would like to understand what happens and if what they are doing is legal so we can do it again too. If they develop something intelligent and legitimate, we must be able to do it too."

McLaren makes it known that the protest was not intended to be a move against its rivals but a request for clarification from the federation to understand whether to develop the car in one direction rather than another: "We have no intention of protesting, we just want to make the our car as fast as possible. We have good harmony within our team and we are leading the championship which is why we need to accelerate the development process of the car. We want to win the world championship and we are concentrating on our work doing what we think is right to win."
