McLaren skeptical about dual use of DRS in Canada

McLaren's technical director, Paddy lowe, stated that having two DRS zones in the Canadian Grand Prix may not have the desired effect.

DRS has played a key role in the increase in overtaking this season and the FIA has decided to introduce two zones of use in the Montreal and Valencia races.

Lowe, however, expressed his skepticism about this choice. “The FIA developed this idea as a possible solution. This is the first race with the system used in two sectors of the circuit."

“At the FIA they obviously think that this will help a lot in overtaking, because that is precisely the function of the DRS. But whether it works that way or not remains to be seen. In our analyzes – not too detailed yet, I have to admit that it is not very helpful.”

“The role of the DRS will certainly help more in the initial straight, in the second straight it could only improve performance. We'll see what happens".
