McLaren MP4-X: the future of F1 according to the Woking team

McLaren MP4-X – McLaren presents the MP4-X, a concept of a futuristic Formula 1 characterized by covered wheels and a fairing to protect the driver. “With the futuristic McLaren MP4-X, we wanted to imagine the future and the art of the possible,” said John Allert, Group Brand Director of the McLaren Technology Group.
“We have combined many key ingredients of F1 – speed, excitement and performance – with some emerging factors in the category, such as closed cockpits to improve driver safety and hybrid technologies.”
“Formula 1 is the ultimate gladiatorial sport, and the future we imagine is high-tech, high-performance, capable of exciting fans like no other sport,” he added. The concept appears very innovative but also hides many new features under the skin.
The McLaren MP4-X was designed to use alternative engines; the chassis combines shape changes to accommodate different aerodynamic demands and can also communicate in the event of a failure or problem.
