McLaren Mercedes in the right direction in China

With numerous modifications made to the MP4-24, including a provisional version of a double diffuser, McLaren Mercedes managed to enter the top ten in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton set the ninth fastest time while Heikki Kovalainen finished in 12th position.

And thanks to all the guys at the factory for doing such a fantastic job and providing all the new components, each of them helping us get closer to the leaders. There is still a long way to go but without a doubt we are on the road to recovery."

“We really improved our car this weekend. Unfortunately we weren't able to do better in Q2 but I'm happy for the team with Lewis' performance and his entry into Q3. While 12th position does not reflect the true pace it is clear that we are going in the right direction. With the right strategy and a bit of luck in the first laps I will be able to aim for my first points of the year tomorrow."
