McLaren: Lewis Hamilton on track on the second day of testing in Valencia

Today the program started yesterday by Gary Paffett continued with Lewis Hamilton - that is, the collection of data and feedback on the Pirellis, using a modified MP4-25.

Lewis Hamilton: “It was great to be back in the car. I haven't ridden for a while, so it was good to knock off some rust, and I felt comfortable straight away. Even though we are using a 2010 car, we had a fairly productive day. We tried to replicate the 2011 downforces on the old car – we already have a good understanding of the Pirellis and covered quite a few kilometres. With the new tires it's easy to get a good feeling straight away but they tend to degrade quickly and this is a problem for longer stints – but this is obviously the same for everyone.”

Testing will continue tomorrow with Jenson Button, before attention shifts to the presentation of the new car scheduled for Friday. The new car will then be on track next week in the Jerez tests.
