McLaren, Hamilton is not involved in the choice of his new teammate

Lewis Hamilton said yesterday that he was not involved in the choice of his new teammate. After the announcement between McLaren Mercedes and Fernando Alonso the Englishman had expressed his preference for Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil and Heikki Kovalainen but in London he specified that he had no influence on the team's decision.

"It's a team decision and it doesn't concern me," Hamilton told reporters during the presentation of his biography.

"My involvement is not necessary. I will stay calm. I have my place. The car will be built around me and whoever else joins the team."

Hamilton also commented on the rumors coming from Germany regarding a possible hiring of Michael Schumacher by the Woking team: "Cool. It would be fantastic. He's an incredible driver."

Finally a comment on the criticism received from the British press for his few public appearances and for the decision to move his residence to Switzerland: "I generally speak from the heart, but perhaps I need to improve my communication skills. I love my fans, but you can't live at home your whole life. You need to go out and experience living alone, cooking alone. I don't see where else I could have gone. I chose Switzerland. For me , it's not a question of taxes. I've been in England for the last few years paying taxes. It's not a problem."
