McLaren: Hamilton happy with sixth position

Lewis Hamilton said he was satisfied with the sixth position he achieved in the Malaysian Grand Prix after recovering from the back. The McLaren driver, who started in 20th position, thus made up for yesterday's strategic errors in qualifying.

"It's not a bad result starting from 20th position" declared Hamilton. "If we had finished in a higher position it would have been a better race, but I think the team did a fantastic job and the car was great here all weekend. It's a positive thing for the next race. I'm very, very happy with the result. I think that starting from 20th to finish sixth, I don't know how many points he collected, but it is undoubtedly a good result."

The Briton was stuck behind Sutil's Force India in the final stint.

"I was much faster than him but he was very intelligent on the exits and on the straights he was too fast" added Hamilton.

Jenson Button in the other McLaren finished in eighth place: "I made a terrible start and I think I made a mistake fitting the options because I had no grip at the rear. At high speed it was terrible. So I couldn't overtake I lost a lot of time at the start. I came back on lap 10 when I didn't have a clear track, and it went better. But the problem was that I stayed on the first tires for too long, and overtaking on the track was very, very difficult. The cars behind me were 2 seconds faster. I tried to resist but it was very difficult. Felipe passed. Fernando tried a couple of times. In the last attempt he went long into the corner and his engine gave out suddenly. I don't know what happened but it was a good battle. I didn't think fighting for eighth place would be so difficult, but it's good to have scored a few points. I went to the outside at the first corner and it wasn't the ideal place. I lost many positions there."
