McLaren confirms negotiations with Apple

McLaren has admitted that it has been in contact with Apple about a possible sale of the group to the technology giant. In September we learned of Apple's interest in McLaren but at that time both parties denied the rumors.

Mike Flewitt, chief executive of McLaren Automotive, confirmed to Reuters that negotiations had begun but stalled: “They came to visit us, we talked. We talked about what they did and what we did. They took a tour of our headquarters but it didn't turn into a definitive proposal."

Apple was working on the prototype of its own electric car but according to rumors several key members of the project later left the company. A potential acquisition of McLaren could have given new life to the Apple Car project.
