McLaren: Button fifth at the finish line, accident for Hamilton a few laps from the end

"During the first laps, the reading on my dashboard stopped working. The team told me on the radio what to do, but I couldn't see if I was doing the right things. At the pitstop I lost time again because of this problem and when I came back I didn't know where Michael was, in fact when exiting the pits at turn 1 he passed me. I'm disappointed because the pace of the car was really good but it doesn't make any difference if it's not possible to overtake. Fifth place It's not the result I would have wanted."

"Second place would have been a perfect result for us in both championships. I was just trying to get the car to the finish line, when suddenly I felt the steering go and immediately after the bend the front left broke. For me and "It was a surprise because the car was working really well. We don't know what happened, but we will look into the problem at the factory. I think I had a good race. I couldn't keep up with Mark on my second set of tyres, but I was able to overtake Vettel on the way out of the pits. I have to say that there were some problems with the lapped drivers risking collision on a couple or more occasions. It was quite difficult because sometimes there was a very big speed difference. I think this will be even more difficult in Monaco. I'm obviously disappointed about the accident so close to the finish line. The guys did an incredible job all weekend. I know we can still fight for this championship."
