McLaren, Button: “I felt like I was a target!”
The Englishman was the protagonist of several contacts
La McLaren can finally go on holiday with a smile. Indeed, after much suffering, in this hot Hungarian race, the Woking team managed to get both of its boys into the top 10, a step forward which gives us hope for the second part of the season.
“It was a fun ride, even though I felt like I was a target! Vettel tried to pass me several times and hooked onto my rear in Turn 2. Luckily I didn't get a puncture! As for Grosjean, I don't know what he was thinking at that moment, even if I went on the grass it was inevitable that we would touch! – He declared Jenson Button – I ran for over half the race on the mediums, more than anyone else, a demonstration of what we are capable of doing. I had an excellent start when I moved up from thirteenth to eighth place. The middle stint on the soft tires wasn't bad either; I kept a Ferrari behind me and I would have even beaten a Mercedes if Rosberg hadn't retired. Seventh position won't be the best, but we did a good job and progressed, which in itself is an incentive for the team before the summer break."
“Yesterday afternoon I was convinced that we could score important points, but having initially fitted the used Primes did not prove to be a winning move - the consideration of Sergio Perez, 9th – I lost time and struggled with the rear, I had to return early and then I encountered traffic. It's a real shame, luckily we both got into the top ten, an encouraging result for everyone, as well as a nice gift."
