McLaren, Button: “Improved car, but what bad luck”
Problems in the pits prevent the Briton from finishing the Malaysian GP
Jenson Button the wise. Between disagreements within the teams and teams arguing with strategies, at home McLaren we try to look at the glass half full. Or at least that's what Button tries to do, forced into an entirely avoidable retirement due to an error in the pits that cost him precious points.
“We had a good race today. The strategy was right, we reeled off the correct laps and looked after the tires exactly as we should have done. We could have finished fifth or even fought for third or fourth place if we hadn't had problems at the pit stop."
There is regret in the words of the British driver who returned to the pits when he was momentarily first, due to an incorrect tightening of the right front.
“It's a shame not to be able to reap the fruit of our work. Even at the end I could have finished in the top ten, but the front left produced an increasingly strong vibration that I think the telemetry guys got worried about, fearing that it might damage the front suspension if I continued - tells -. However, I think the team did a good job. It is indisputable that the car has improved compared to last week."
“We hope that in China, in two weeks, we can continue to improve to start gaining a few more points,” comments the former world champion.
No points for him, two for his teammate Sergio Perez who finished ninth. Too little for the Woking team who aspire to much different results. The season is long, we'll see.
