Mclaren, Boullier: “No FP1 for Vandoorne during the season”
"It will be limited to the simulator and the various test sessions during the year"
At the end of the second day of in-season testing on the Barcelona track, Eric Boullier, race director of Mclaren, explained that no hours of work are expected for Stoffel Vandoorne during free practice 1 of this championship. According to Boullier, in fact, programs that include hours of testing during free practice on Friday morning are completely useless, both for development purposes and for the driver's own feeling.
Vandoorne will therefore limit himself to the simulator and the few in-season test sessions.
Here are the words of Eric Boullier: “Stoffel will not test during Free Practice 1 for this champion. We believe it is completely useless to go on track just for the sake of it and therefore it will be limited to the simulator and the various test sessions during the year. He did an excellent job during these tests and we are convinced that he will be able to give us a great hand in the development of the MP4 / 31 on the simulator. Furthermore, his schedule in Japan doesn't allow him any distractions."
