McLaren, Alonso: “I haven't done anything special this year”
The Asturian rider admits that he is now almost in a stand-by situation, waiting for 2016
While waiting for better times, for a 2016 that should represent a turning point for a McLaren-Honda in constant trouble and technical delay, Fernando Alonso on Thursday at Interlagos he sincerely admitted that he does not consider the current season to be the best in terms of driving.
Fernando, slightly self-critical, claims that he could do very little with this McLaren and that the performance of the MP4-30 ended up influencing his performance too, with very few ideas worthy of his talent. All energies are already poured into 2016.
“I don't think I've had a really strong performance this year – declared Alonso on the eve of the Brazilian GP - Here and there I did some good laps, for example I remember setting a good time in Q2 at Suzuka. Then I remember with pleasure the Austin race, where we were quite fast in all conditions. There I felt that I could push as I wanted. In addition to these few moments I remember much else. Next year I want to improve. Staying ahead and being motivated naturally helps. Now I would say that I am on stand-by, in economy mode. Let's conserve our energy for 2016."
