McLaren, Alonso: “Today was like a second day of testing for me”

The times in the standings are certainly not for top teams, but this one in McLaren-Honda for now they have taken it into account. The Anglo-Japanese team is more focused on reaching the finish line and accumulating kilometers and data, to close the gap with the rest of the grid step by step.
The Eurobursar Woking however, he ended the first day satisfied, thanks to the work developed on the chassis and power unit which, afterwards Melbourne, finally seems to bear fruit.
The development program is progressing in the right direction, even if the distance to be covered over the opponents is still significant. Meanwhile Alonso, sixteenth at the end of the day ahead of his teammate's car, enjoyed his first time on the track 2015 World.

“It's great to get back behind the wheel, I really enjoyed myself today. I may not be 100% fit after two weeks on the couch and away from the car, but I'm fit enough to enjoy it out there on the track. Today was like a second day of testing for me, since over the winter I've only had one consistent day a Barcelona, in which I had accumulated 63 laps, while today I did 45. Furthermore, what is very important, we lapped without problems", declared the driver of the McLaren at the end of his first seasonal outing, happy as a child on Christmas day.

“We are improving the aerodynamic package, gaining considerable awareness of the power unit, in addition to the fact that the interaction between those working on the car has also improved. Every lap we take teaches us something. The car today was consistent and easy to drive, and gives me the confidence to push it to the limit. We had some problems with the braking system but we should be able to resolve them overnight. I feel at my best, really, I really enjoyed myself today!”, concluded an enthusiast Fernando Alonso.

“I think today's heat complicated everyone's day a bit,” he commented Button. “It was difficult to find a constant balance and many made several mistakes on the track. The grip was very low, so the feeling with the car wasn't as good as in Melbourne, although overall our pace on the single lap and in the long runs was a little closer to that of the rivals in front of us. This is definitely a step forward."

“We discovered many things today about the engine; we have a little more power although we are still learning in terms of handling in different areas of the car. I might have been wrong yesterday when I said that on Sunday we probably won't be able to catch up with the other cars: it would be a significant improvement if tomorrow we were able to position ourselves ahead of some of our closest rivals", concluded the 2009 world champion hopefully.
