McLaren in points in China: Kovalainen fifth, Hamilton sixth with many errors
Fifth and sixth place for McLaren Mercedes in the Chinese Grand Prix, with Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton respectively. While the Finn ran a more wait-and-see race without errors, the world champion always launched into the attack, committing several errors and spinning in the rain.
Heikki Kovalainen:
"Visibility was incredibly poor, especially in the first laps after the safety car came back. But our pace was good and, during the last laps of the race, I got close to Rubens, but not enough to start an attack. It wasn't It was possible to finish in a better position than fifth today and I'm very happy to have collected four useful points without making a single mistake, despite the critical moments!"
Lewis Hamilton:
"At the beginning of the race it was practically too difficult to ride. But I found a good pace and I had some fun during the first laps, but unfortunately I destroyed my tires very early. I made too many mistakes today. The track was very slippery and my front left tire ran out too early at the end but I did my best. This afternoon was really tough and I'm happy to have picked up a few points for the team."
