Max Verstappen: “It was like winning”

The Red Bull driver third at the end of an epic race

Max Verstappen: “It was like winning”

- haters di Max Verstappen today they had to take their hats off to the young driver Red Bull, who held sway in the rain with spectacular overtaking and maneuvers worthy of a champion. No "infractions" on the track and a more than deserved third step of the podium, behind the two contenders for the world title. It doesn't seem absurd to think that at this rate young Max could soon be in the shoes of the two colleagues in front of him...

Here are his words at the end of this epic day Interlagos: “The word to describe today is 'exciting'. I passed Nico on the outside in Turn 3 and it was a lot of fun. Then I started chasing Lewis and took a big risk in the final sector, but luckily I managed to keep the car away from the guard rail. After this the pace was still very good but then the rears started to lose grip: I was told that Daniel had switched to intermediates and was gaining speed so I followed his example. For a few laps it went well but then the rain intensified and in the last sector I had no grip".

“There was no way to continue with that compound, so I had to stop again. From then on the race was a lot of fun, full of overtaking: I kept my head down and tried to get in as many cars as possible. I could hear the crowd screaming when I was on the radio with my engineer, so I thank the Brazilian fans for the support. In the end when I crossed the finish line it felt like a victory; it was almost as good as the race in Barcelona”, concluded the young Max happily.
