Mateschitz worried about Renault's commitment to F1

Dieter Mateschitz admitted on Tuesday that he is concerned about Renault's long-term commitment to F1. In an interview with Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten, the Red Bull owner denied rumors of a possible long-term partnership between his team and the French.

“I doubt it because I think Renault has no intention of staying in F1 for long,” said the XNUMX-year-old.

Although the Renault F1 team retained its name and identity, the French manufacturer essentially left the category after selling a majority stake in the team to the Luxembourg investment group Genii Capital.

Renault also supplies engines to Red Bull, but Mateschitz intends to switch to Mercedes engines in 2011.

“It brings us a lot of uncertainty that Renault does not have a long-term commitment to F1,” he added.
