Massa: “Red Bull and McLaren faster than Ferrari”

Felipe Massa was disappointed at the end of qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix which saw him only take sixth place on the grid despite the good potential shown yesterday by Ferrari. The Brazilian driver admitted that on this track the Maranello team is inferior to McLaren and Red Bull.

“A difficult qualification, without a doubt. Already this morning we saw that McLaren and Red Bull were faster than us and they managed to confirm their position in the afternoon, when we had some difficulties and didn't get the result we expected: it will mean that we will try to improve our position in the race tomorrow ” commented Massa.

“As often happens here in Belgium, it is foreseeable that the variable weather conditions could play a decisive role: it will be essential to manage the situation in the best way” added the Brazilian at the end of qualifying.

“In Q3, in the first attempt I did a good lap but, perhaps, I could have been a couple of tenths quicker, while in the second I immediately found some rain at Turn 1 and locked the wheels so I decided to return to the box without completing it because I wouldn't have improved my time anyway. If there were to be a damp track but not too much it could be a problem because the wet tires get ruined very quickly and you will have to manage them with great care" concluded Massa.
