Massa: “Not a fantastic day”

The Brazilian didn't make the most of the soft tires in free practice for the Chinese GP

Felipe Massa was disappointed at the end of Friday's free practice for the Chinese Formula 1 GP. The Ferrari driver was unable to improve his time on the soft tires and ended the day in 17th place.

“It certainly wasn't a day that can be defined as fantastic” commented Massa. “This morning the track was a bit wet and this didn't allow us to lap as much as we would have liked, while in the afternoon the track dried out and we were able to carry out our usual Friday programme. When I did my first run on the Soft tyres, Glock went off the track at the first corner and I was forced to pit: this prevented me from taking advantage of that set of tires and significantly improving my time. I'm sure that I would have been much faster than what you can see when reading the ranking: I'm a bit disappointed because I wasn't able to use the soft tires as I should have. At the end of the session we ran with a lot of fuel on board to improve the balance of the car."
