Massa: “I felt respect and great affection from everyone”

The moment is getting closer and closer when Felipe Massa will hang up his helmet and dedicate himself to something else. His retirement from Formula 1 was accompanied by reactions and messages of affection from all over the four-wheel world.

“I felt great respect and affection from everyone – he told UOL Esporte – I was also a little surprised. I am very happy with the messages I have received both from fans and from people who have worked with me throughout my career."

The 35-year-old made his debut in 2002, won 11 races for Ferrari and came very close to winning the title in 2008. In his 15-year career he has participated in over 250 races.

“There are 22 drivers in Formula 1 but not many have managed to stay for 15 years and have the success that I have been able to have.”
