Massa and Perez denounce: "No one listens to the opinion of the riders"
The new qualifications have created a lot of discontent in the paddock
The feeling was also clear in Barcelona during the meeting held on the penultimate day of winter testing. The drivers never liked the idea of the new format with elimination every 90" of qualifying and they took the opportunity of the flop of the debut in Australia to proclaim it out loud.
“Maybe after what we saw this Saturday, those in charge of the rules will finally listen to us. As for me, I have fifteen years of F1 under my belt and a bit of experience. Of course I can be wrong but I think I have something to give in terms of advice. Unfortunately, every time we show opposition to proposals we are promptly ignored” – the driver's complaint Wiliams Felipe Massa, one of the veterans of the group.
Also of the same opinion Sergio Perez from Force India: “Today we experienced the most boring Q3 ever, however I'm not surprised. At Montmelo we said that there would be this eventuality and no one listened to us. By acting like this they did the fans a disservice because I'm sure that 99% of them didn't understand anything. We ourselves struggled. In my opinion we should go back to the old system and think better about a future intervention."
