Massa: “Competitive in Monza”

Over the course of his career, which has seen him with the Prancing Horse sewn onto his suit for eight years, Felipe Massa has been the protagonist of many "battles", holding his own against teammates of the caliber of Schumacher and Raikkonen, and now Alonso. In other words, the Brazilian driver is a difficult "customer", which explains how he manages to stay calm when the press goes wild on their favorite topic. That is, Felipe's future at Ferrari. As happened this afternoon in Monza, when Massa participated, with his teammate, and four other drivers, in the FIA ​​press conference.

“I think I have a good chance of staying at Ferrari,” began Felipe when asked the inevitable question. “Good results are important. I simply have to concentrate, try to do my best with the car and get the most out of it. If you can do that, then you can get out there and have fun. The level of performance this year has been positive throughout the season, but I was simply unlucky with tire problems on two occasions, a couple of spins, and a suspension problem, thus not allowing me to finish the races where I should have. I just have to put all the elements together and the results will come."

Felipe also underlined the importance of his relationship with the team. “It must not be forgotten that the team knows me very well. Actually better than anyone else,” said the Brazilian driver. “The team knows what my experience can bring, and it will be a very important aspect with the changes next year, when everything will start from scratch, with a different car and different rules. A driver's experience will be very important in such a situation, so sometimes what matters to him is not the result of a single race. More important is to consider the overall picture."

Finally a question about this weekend's race and what kind of weekend you expect. “The car in Spa was more competitive than in Hungary. An important step for us,” concluded the Ferrari driver. “I think we can be competitive here, because in the past, even last year when the car was certainly not the best, we still managed to be competitive in Monza. I hope we can fight for the leading positions, and then continue this trend in the rest of the season."
