Marussia MR01: the new F1 single-seater unveiled at Silverstone
Debut in a shakedown on the English circuit
It was supposed to be HRTe day but, for now, Marussia has arrived. The Anglo-Russian team, in fact, today unveiled the new single-seater, the MR01, at Silverstone, on the occasion of the filming day granted by the FIA outside of the collective tests.
Marussia did not participate in the last pre-World Cup tests held in Barcelona having failed to pass the mandatory crash tests of the previous week. For now he cannot participate in the first race of the season in Melbourne, but the team appears confident of being able to obtain the approval.
“We are delighted to have tried the new MR01 for the first time this morning. The wait has been long for the whole team, but now we can get back on track and start working for the first race of the season in Australia." declared boss John Booth.
“Today is the first of two promotional events and the drivers will be able to become familiar with the car, drawing interesting data and conclusions - He continued -. This is an important day for us and we will make the best of it." he concluded.
The single-seater, designed by Pat Symonds, makes use of the collaboration with McLaren of which it also follows some concepts. The main one that immediately catches the eye is the lack of the step between the chassis and the nose like the Woking team's single-seater.
Timo Glock and Charles Pic will be the starting drivers.
