Marussia: testing in Jerez will continue tomorrow after Chilton's accident

Technicians looking for a solution to the rear suspension problem

Marussia will be able to continue its test program in Jerez despite Max Chilton's off-track crash today, caused by a failure of the right rear suspension.

The team has confirmed that it will make some changes to the suspension tomorrow to avoid a repeat of the problem.

“Something broke, the team is looking for a solution,” said Chilton. “As soon as I touched the brakes the car took off. I got her back once but she was out of control. It was the first real run where I was pushing, so I was really testing the car to the max and something went wrong. Pat (Symonds, ed.) and the rest of the team are very experienced and will find a solution. I just have to trust their judgement, I've been in F1 for many years. There's not much else a pilot can do except trust them. As soon as I put the helmet on, I'll just have to test the car and hope they've solved the problem."

“The tests were going well up until that point,” Chilton added. “I was doing a few laps and the car responded well but I imagine that's what the test days are for. I had pushed a few laps before but not to the maximum. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel and have a good test."
