Marko: Webber can take away points from his opponents
Mark Webber could officially take on the role of second driver for the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season. This is what we understood from the words of Red Bull Racing advisor, Helmut Marko, who however denied, at least in words, the hypothesis that the Australian is already Sebastian Vettel's number 2.
The German had a great start to the season and after 4 races he leads his teammate, now third in the standings, by 38 points.
“There are no team orders,” Marko told Sport Bild. “But the fact is that, overall since Silverstone 2010, Mark has been 3 tenths slower than Sebastian.” “He's too slow to win at this pace. But if he races at high levels like in Turkey he will be able to take away important points from the other riders” added Marko.
Webber is the only member of the Red Bull team whose contract expires at the end of the year and has not yet been renewed.
