Marko: “Kvyat could stay with us”
The Russian driver has a strong chance of remaining in Toro Rosso also in 2017
Daniil Kvyat he seemed ready for a change of scenery but the Toro Rosso leaders could confirm this also in 2017.
This was revealed by Helmut Marko who, in a recent interview with Globo, admitted that the chances of him leaving are very low. With Sainz's possible move to Renault and the arrival of the young Pierre Gasly from GP2, reconfirmation would be around the corner.
“I don't know why, but Kvyat had a moment of emotional weakness at the beginning of the year – said Marko – but now he's much better. Do you see how he is reacting? He is doing a great job in Toro Rosso”.
Surprising statements given the apparently frayed relationship between the team and the Russian: “If he continues like this I see no reason why he shouldn't continue with Toro Rosso. He has a contract with us and it's not him who decides whether to leave or not, but us."
