Manor, Ocon: “Satisfied with my work in this team”

Thirteenth and fourteenth positions for Esteban Ocon and Pascal Wehrlein in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last round of the 2016 Formula One World Championship. Despite the enormous effort put forward by the team in the last two weeks, Sauber managed to end this season in tenth place in the constructors' standings, forcing Manor to last place. For Ocon, the adventure in Force India will now begin while Wehrlein's future still remains a mystery: according to Toto Wolff, in fact, the German will be on the grid in March, but it is not yet clear with which team. We will see in the next few days how this situation will evolve.

Here are the words of Esteban Ocon: “Yes, I'm really satisfied. Yesterday's qualifying was terrible and today's performance certainly satisfied me. I had a good start and already after the first corners I had managed to recover several positions. This has certainly put us in a positive position for the strategy and for the management of the compounds. Unfortunately I had a contact with Nasr which damaged my front wing and made me lose the time for a second stop. In general, however, we have done an excellent job in the last two weeks and even if today's performance was not enough to compensate for the events in Brazil, we are all happy with the season. It could have gone better, but we know we gave our all in every event of the season."

Here are Pascal Wehrlein's impressions: “It's fantastic to end the season with a good performance like today's, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the events in Brazil and the points lost during last weekend. I had a fairly complex first stint of the race where I lost some time, but in general we recovered quite well and in the end the strategy proved to be the right one. We actually have nothing to complain about since we gave our all. I want to thank the team for the opportunity and for all the races spent together during this championship. The guys were really fantastic."
