Magnussen will test the Porsche 919 Hybrid in Barcelona

Although Kevin Magnussen's hopes of being able to race in Formula 1 in 2016 have not yet faded, the Dane has started to look around, even far from the Circus. The starting grid is slowly coming together and the 23-year-old, who will leave McLaren at the end of the year, has publicly confirmed that he has no intention of spending another season in backstage. He wants to run, be a star. A dream shattered by the recent announcement of Jenson Button's contract renewal with the Woking team.

What if Magnussen's future passed through Endurance? Just yesterday, Porsche Motorsports, the racing department of the Stuttgart company, confirmed that the Danish driver will next 10th November will try one Porsche 919 Hybrid on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the track just outside the Catalan capital. Together with the almost former McLaren they will also board the covered-wheel car Mitch Evans, who already raced at Le Mans this year, however driving a Gibson 015-Nissan LMP2, and Oliver Turney, linked like Magnussen to McLaren where he currently plays the role of tester.

The goal of the German group is clear: Porsche is trying to attract new and young talents towards the WEC, a championship which year after year not only sees an increase in the number of followers among drivers of other categories but also among enthusiasts. And precisely in these last few seasons he has aimed eyes on Formula 1 and in the flight of talent from what is also known as the Queen class of Motorsport. Although Magnussen had a good debut season in Formula 1, in 2014 with the Woking team, he was relegated to secondary role thanks to the return of Fernando Alonso to McLaren.
