Magnussen-Haas, announcement already during the next Interlagos weekend?
The Dane has reportedly signed a two-year contract to replace Gutierrez
Kevin Magnussen would be one step away from signing with Haas for next season. According to Autosport reports, in fact, the Dane from Renault would have accepted the advances of Gene Haas' Scuderia, signing a two-year contract to replace Esteban Gutierrez, the only disappointment of the American Scuderia's first season in Formula One. After Esteban Ocon's move to Force India and the possible confirmation of Jolyon Palmer in Renault, Magnussen is the third piece that falls into place regarding the next championship. It remains to be seen which profile Manor will use to replace the Frenchman from Mercedes (and this is where our Antonio Giovinazzi comes into play. Ed.).
We remember that the Dane had already been approached by Gunther Steiner this winter, when, in full construction of the team, the Americans decided to contact some riders for this championship. Gene Haas ultimately chose to focus on Romain Grosjean, but the attention towards Magnussen never completely waned. It remains to be seen how Esteban Gutierrez will move: Renault's interest in the Mexican remains strong, but Palmer's presence could ruin the plans of the former third Ferrari driver.
I'll certainly squeeze out more in the coming weeks.
