Is Monday the day of truth for the former Honda?
According to the Swiss newspaper Blick and the British Guardian, next Monday will be decisive for the Brackley team after Honda's withdrawal from Formula One. This date is attributable to the fact that McLaren-Mercedes, a possible supplier of engines, wants to know by that day whether the team is willing to pay the sum of 8 million to guarantee complete supply for the entire season.
The possible buyers of the orphaned team are: Richard Branson of the Virgin Group or Nick Fry and Ross Brawn themselves, men within the team who for some time had intended to save the team with their own efforts. Petrobras has ruled out his return to Formula One in 2009 and therefore has no intention of financing the young Bruno Senna, but Embratel, another Brazilian company, is ready to guarantee support.
