Lotus Renault: Not very competitive car in the wet in Silverstone free practice

Renault was not very competitive at Silverstone in free practice which took place in wet conditions. Both riders are now hoping for dry conditions for the rest of the weekend.

Nick Heidfeld – Pos 16: “It was typical Silverstone weather to start the weekend, but it's good that the weather forecast says it will be dry on Sunday. I think the dry conditions are certainly better suited to our car than today where we were not competitive in the morning and afternoon session. As we saw today it is very difficult as the conditions are not constant so it is difficult to test and evaluate the parts and set-up. We had a good run in the wet and tried some small set-up changes. This was my first time on the new setup and my impressions are that so far I have preferred the old one. I'm looking forward to driving the new layout in dry conditions, which will hopefully be the case tomorrow.”

Vitaly Petrov – Pos 11: “Today was challenging, to say the least, and obviously it's frustrating not to have done many laps out there, especially in the second session when I did few laps. There's not much that can be done in these conditions. It's the same for all teams! It was helpful to have more time on both the extreme wet tires and the intermediates though and I'm looking forward to running tomorrow when hopefully the weather will be kinder to us. I'm still optimistic for this weekend.”
