Lotus, four drivers are bidding to replace Grosjean in Monza
In addition to d'Ambrosio, Barrichello, Alguersuari and Sutil are also in the running
At least four drivers could be in contention to replace Romain Grosjean at the Italian GP in Monza. The Frenchman will be forced to miss the race on the Brianza circuit due to the disqualification imposed on him by the FIA for having triggered the bad accident at Spa-Francorchamps.
Rubens Barrichello, currently involved in IndyCar, hopes to return to F1 and admitted his interest in Grosjean's seat to his 1,7 million followers on Twitter: “People ask me if I would accept racing in Monza if Lotus called me. The answer is yes!" said the XNUMX-year-old.
Lotus team boss Eric Boullier has confirmed that official reserve Jerome d'Ambrosio will be 80% behind the wheel of the car. But Jaime Alguersuari, official Pirelli test driver, declared to the Spanish newspaper AS that he too was "ready to race in Monza".
“I'm ready to race, that's for sure. Lotus is a great team with great possibilities. I would jump in the car tomorrow without any problem” he explained. “My chances? I have no idea how things are, but I'm ready to run and do everything."
According to the German press, Adrian Sutil could be another candidate to replace Grosjean.
